🩺 The 'Now' vs. 'Before' Pattern

In this story, we see two ways to talk about time. For A2, you must know when to use Past (finished) and Present (happening now).

1. The Past (Finished) These things already happened. We add -ed to the word:

  • Investigated β†’\rightarrow happened before.
  • Visited β†’\rightarrow happened before.
  • Died β†’\rightarrow happened before.

2. The Now (Continuing) These things are happening right now. We use -ing:

  • Helping β†’\rightarrow doing it now.
  • Treating β†’\rightarrow doing it now.
  • Watching β†’\rightarrow doing it now.

πŸ’‘ Simple Rule for You:

  • If it is a memory β†’\rightarrow use -ed.
  • If it is a movie in your head β†’\rightarrow use -ing.

Quick Examples from the Text:

  • 13 women had surgery (Past β†’\rightarrow Done)
  • Doctors are watching (Now β†’\rightarrow Still happening)
