Introduction
This report details two separate road accidents that took place in the Pune district of Maharashtra and the Mathgharia area of Guwahati. These incidents resulted in four deaths and several injuries.
Main Body
In Maharashtra, a head-on collision occurred on Saturday around 2:30 PM at Bankarphata, near Otur. A car carrying Ananta Banaji Gawari, a 52-year-old government official, and his staff collided with a tipper truck on a narrow road with a sharp curve. Mr. Gawari died from his injuries, while a senior clerk and the driver were seriously injured. A fourth passenger, Bhimrao Korde, suffered minor injuries and alerted the police. Following the accident, police arrested the truck driver, 27-year-old Ganesh Sitaram Jadhav. He has been charged with negligence and endangering public safety. Although Assistant Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bajigire stated that the driver did not appear to be drunk, blood samples have been sent to a laboratory for confirmation. Sub-Inspector YS Jadhav is currently leading the investigation. Meanwhile, in Guwahati, a car carrying three women in their twenties collided with a truck on Sunday at approximately 4:00 AM near Gate Hospital. The passengers—Puja Saha, Akanksha Saikia, and Neha Khan—were returning from a Bihu celebration. All three women died; two passed away at the scene, and the third died later at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The truck driver, Shemim Ahmed, fled the scene and is still missing. Police are now searching for him and reviewing CCTV footage to understand exactly how the accident happened.
Conclusion
Currently, legal proceedings are underway in Maharashtra, while authorities in Assam are continuing their search for the driver and reviewing forensic evidence.
