In the Pune district of Maharashtra, a head-on collision occurred on Saturday at approximately 14:30 hours at Bankarphata, near Otur. The incident involved a car transporting Ananta Banaji Gawari, a 52-year-old Junnar nayab tehsildar, and his staff, and a tipper truck. The collision took place on a narrow road segment characterized by an S-curve. Mr. Gawari deceased from his injuries, while a senior clerk and the driver sustained serious injuries. A fourth passenger, Bhimrao Korde, sustained minor injuries and notified the authorities. Separately, in the Mathgharia area of Guwahati, a collision occurred on Sunday at approximately 04:00 hours involving a Swift Dzire and a truck near Gate Hospital. The vehicle was occupied by three women in their twenties: Puja Saha, a bank employee; Akanksha Saikia, an admissions staff member at Royal Global University; and Neha Khan, a student. All three occupants deceased, with two fatalities occurring at the scene and one following medical intervention at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The occupants were reportedly returning from a Bihu celebration. Regarding the Guwahati incident, the truck driver, identified as Shemim Ahmed, departed the scene following the collision and remains at large. Law enforcement officials have initiated a search operation to locate the driver and are currently analyzing CCTV footage to establish the precise sequence of events. The deceased have been transferred for post-mortem examinations, and their respective families have been notified.
