The US government wants to help move oil. There is a war in the Middle East. This war makes oil hard to get.

Main Body

Israel and the USA fought Iran on February 28. Now, a small water path is closed. This path is very important for oil. The world has less oil now. Oil prices went up. Gasoline now costs $4.74 per gallon. On March 18, the government changed a law. This law is the Jones Act. Usually, only US ships can move oil between US ports. Now, ships from other countries can do it too. This added 40 more ships. These ships moved 9 million barrels of oil to Alaska, California, Florida, and Texas. Some people want this change to continue. Other people say the old law is important for safety.
