Main Body
The incident happened around 2:00 am on Sunday when a group of people, including two minors, gathered on a public road after a birthday party. According to police reports, Neeraj, a head constable from the Special Cell who lives in the area, left his home to confront the group about the noise. Both men were taken to RTR Hospital, where Kumar was declared dead on arrival and Krishan was admitted for critical care. The victim's family and the party host claimed that the officer was drunk and that the shooting was a hate crime, asserting that he used abusive language and targeted the victim because he was from Bihar. On the other hand, police officials emphasized that while they are investigating the possibility of a hate crime, such a motive has not yet been proven. Furthermore, investigators are checking if the officer used his official service weapon.
