Americans' Approval of Congress Falls to 10%
Introduction
A new poll shows that only 10% of Americans approve of Congress. This is the same low number as in 2013. 86% of Americans do not approve.
Main Body
The poll is from Gallup. Harry Enten, a data analyst, looked at the numbers. He said that more Americans believe the moon landing was fake (12%) than approve of Congress (10%). The same number of Americans (10%) think the Earth is not round. Disapproval of Congress goes up when the government shuts down. The Department of Homeland Security has been shut down for 10 weeks. Last year, Congress passed fewer than 40 new laws. That is the smallest number in many years. Some members of Congress left after problems. Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales left after people said they did bad things. Cory Mills is under investigation for similar reasons. Harry Enten said Congress needs to do more work to get better approval.
Conclusion
The low approval rating comes from many problems. Congress cannot pass laws. The government shuts down many times. Some members have ethical problems. People do not trust Congress.
