Big Wave in Alaska

Introduction

On August 10, 2025, a lot of rock fell into the water in Alaska. This made a very big wave. No people died.

Main Body

A huge amount of rock fell from a mountain into the water. This made a wave 481 meters high. The wave was very strong and removed plants from the walls. Ice on the mountain melted because the world is getting warmer. The ice held the rock. When the ice melted, the rock fell. This happens in other cold places too. Some ships were near the water, but they were safe. Now, some cruise ships do not go to this place because it is dangerous. Scientists saw small shakes in the ground before the big wave. They want to make a warning system. This system can tell ships to leave the area.

Conclusion

The ice is melting and making big waves. We need better systems to warn people.

⚡ The 'Power' Words

In this story, we see a difference between small words and strong words. To reach A2, stop using 'very' and start using 'strong' adjectives.

  • Very big \rightarrow Huge
  • Very big \rightarrow Huge amount
  • Very strong \rightarrow Dangerous

❄️ Why did it happen? (Cause and Effect)

Look at how the story connects two ideas. This is the best way to explain things in English:

[Action] \rightarrow [Result]

  1. Ice melted \rightarrow rock fell.
  2. Rock fell \rightarrow big wave.
  3. Big wave \rightarrow plants removed.

🚢 Safe vs. Dangerous

Notice how the text uses opposites to describe the ships:

  • Safe: The ships were okay.
  • Dangerous: The place is not okay now.

Tip: Use 'Safe' when there is no danger, and 'Dangerous' when there is a risk.
